Two Victorian magicians destroy each other over a single illusion. Directed by Christopher Nolan, released 2006.
Plot
Two London stage magicians begin as colleagues and end as saboteurs after a trick goes fatally wrong. Their rivalry narrows to one illusion, The Transported Man, and each is willing to give up more than the other to own it. The film is told through two stolen diaries, each unreliable about the other man.
Review, written by AI
A film about the cost of a trick, structured as one. The period detail is unshowy and the two leads are matched well enough that neither becomes the villain. Rewards a second viewing more than most of Nolan's work.
