A former pilot leaves a dying Earth to look for somewhere else to live. Directed by Christopher Nolan, released 2014.
Plot
Crop blight is making Earth uninhabitable. Cooper, a widowed engineer turned farmer, is recruited to fly through a wormhole near Saturn and assess three planets that earlier missions flagged as possible homes. Time runs at different rates on the far side, so every hour he spends deciding costs years of his daughter's life.
Review, written by AI
The most openly sentimental film Nolan has made, and it works because the physics is taken seriously enough to earn it. The water planet sequence is one of the best-staged set pieces of the decade. The third act asks for a lot of goodwill and mostly gets it.
