Plot
Four hundred thousand Allied soldiers are trapped on the French coast waiting for evacuation. The film follows a week on the mole, a day at sea aboard a requisitioned pleasure boat, and an hour in a Spitfire cockpit, running the three at different speeds until they meet. There is almost no dialogue and no explanation of the wider war.
