Plot
J. Robert Oppenheimer is given the Manhattan Project and builds Los Alamos from empty desert. The film cuts between the wartime work, his 1954 security clearance hearing, and Lewis Strauss's 1959 confirmation hearing, so the achievement and its punishment are told at the same time. Trinity happens two thirds of the way in and is not the climax.
